Sarkaghat

Sarkaghat is a town and a nagar panchayat in Mandi district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

Sarkaghat is located at 31°42′N 76°44′E / 31.70°N 76.73°E / 31.70; 76.73[2]. It has an average elevation of 911 metres (2,989 feet).


Sarkaghat Bus Station connects Sarkaghat with Mandi and other major places. It is located in Mandi District, Himachal Pradesh. The station is under the control of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC).

Kullu Manali Airport and Joginder Nagar Railway Station are the nearest major access points.

As of 2001[update] India census[1], Sarkaghat had a population of 3706. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Sarkaghat has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 74%. In Sarkaghat, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
